The brief
A character Queenslander the owners loved, but a cramped, dark rear that cut them off from the garden.
The challenge
Adding contemporary open-plan living without losing the home’s heritage character or its classic street presence.
Our response
We restored the original front rooms and VJ detailing, then opened the rear into a light-filled living, kitchen and deck that steps down to the garden — matched in proportion and roofline so it reads as one home.
The result
A home that honours its history and lives like a brand-new one, connected to the outdoors at last.
